About Your Drum Teacher
Welaaxum Yout/William Helin
I started my journey as a motivational Drum Dance Teacher after overcoming my own personal addiction and health challenges. I believe that everyone has the potential to achieve true spiritual and overall welness and I'm here to help you unlock your true potential, if only humbly, through Vibrational Activities and Encouragement.
My methods are based on my own cultural Ab Original teachings in the tradional arts, Ancestral drumming and knowlege teachings of my Matriarch and other Master Elder teachers.
My traditional T’smsyen name is Welaaxum Yout, which means Big Man, William is my given name, Helin comes from my Finnish great Grandfather, Herman.
Nations are Finnish, T,smsyen, Tlingit and Norwegian from my mother Caroline Wick.
My T’smsyen tribe is the Gitcees, My Life Crest Clan is Ghanhada, Raven, from my ever present Granny Maude.
I was born at Prince Rupert, October 6th 1960, moved to Vancouver Island 1972.
Discovered my Ab Original identity at Hazelton during the 1980s, which is when I made my first drum, using a sacred deer skin and yellow cedar tree. It is my sacred ceremonial drum to this day. I have been taught by many knowledge keepers and wise elders, whom I am eternally grateful.
